Scala solution: reduceLeft function
reduceLeft function can be used to get min and max values of an Array[Int]

scala> val myArr = Array(2000, 12, 6, 15, -2, 9)

myArr: Array[Int] = Array(2000, 12, 6, 15, -2, 9)

scala> myArr.reduceLeft(_ min _)

res: Int = -2

scala> myArr.reduceLeft(_ max _)

res: Int = 2000
